Kitchen Table chronicles my early, homebound days of motherhood. By capturing the constancy of my kitchen table, contrasted with the ever-changing objects, this project became a way to clock the passage of time. Scenic repetition bows to maternity’s many physical and professional constraints while simultaneously insisting on the significance of the architecture of domesticity. Clicking my camera to take in the beauty of the mundane came to resemble moments on commercial shoots causing me to reflect on the present strength of authenticity. My varied stills prompt viewers to value reality in unfiltered messiness, hazy window glass, unbuttered toast, cold coffee.
